64 hours per pay period; weekends and holidays scheduled in accordance with CBA
About the Role
A great opportunity for a Lab Assistant to work in an organization that focuses on treating the whole person—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This position performs a variety of clerical, registration, cashier, and laboratory phlebotomy procedures while maintaining logs, records, inventory, and billing reconciliation.
Responsibilities
- Obtains registration information from patients and secures patient signatures according to procedure.
- Explains health care policies and procedures to patients.
- Obtains and interprets physician orders and diagnoses; performs clerical functions related to ordering ancillary services.
- Distributes laboratory reports and retrieves patient results.
- Maintains logs and records.
- Manages inventory and orders supplies.
- Reconciles billing on AS400 and error batch.
- Works with Warde send-outs, including follow-up on procedures and Warde billing.
- Department provides 24-hour coverage, 365 days per year, which may require working a variety of shifts and days of the week.
- Must be reachable at home by telephone.
Requirements
- High school graduate required; associate degree preferred.
- Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral.
- Able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
