Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform environmental swabbing/sampling of the production area for downstream microbiological measurement, using prescribed testing methods appropriate to the sample.
- Receive client training on and demonstrate proficiency in climbing a ladder (attached to wall; ~12ft) to take water samples when needed, from a water tank.
- Maintain lab cleanliness and organization, including washing of glassware, general cleaning, restocking of reagents and consumables, and disposal of biohazard waste from microbiological testing.
- Maintain and calibrate lab equipment as required.
- Support Quality and continuous improvement projects for facility.
- Understand and adhere to standards for appropriate test methods and SOP’s.
- Perform any required quality and safety checks on samples submitted prior to testing.
- Escalate troubleshooting to client as soon as possible.
- Accurately report and record test data in electronic notebook or handwritten notebooks as needed in a timely manner.
- Report safety, instrument and technical issues to the appropriate contacts.
- Prepare a variety of equipment for testing using prescribed standards / specifications.
- Prepare stock solutions, and keep shelves and reagent stocked.
- Perform testing independently and with limited to no supervision from management.
- Identify and escalate issues to clients and management.
- Prepare written technical reports; learn and use client LIM system.
- Perform basic data analysis as-assigned.
- Absorb and assist with training if requested and qualified on the method or process.
Qualifications
- Physical ability to climb and comfort with climbing a ladder.
- Knowledge of GMP regulations, preferred.
- Written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively in a group setting, with colleagues and clients.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to overlay tasks as able.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet or exceed deadlines.
- Individual and Team work ethic.
- Proficiency with Windows, Word & Excel.

Skills
- Aseptic technique.
Education And Experience
- Degree requirement: Bachelor's Degree in science.
- A microbiology degree, prior experience in a microbiology laboratory, and/or experience with aseptic technique, preferred.
Compensation Range
$20 - $21 an hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset).
