Job Summary
Maintain the inventory of clinical trials specimen kits and shippers. Packages, ships and delivers specimens, documents, and/or supplies to area clinics in a timely manner. Items being transported may be considered biohazards or pathogens.
Responsibilities
- Order, receive, track and destroy specimen kits, shippers and supplies as needed.
- Locate and pull supplies needed to complete the processing and shipping of patient specimens.
- Reconcile physical kit inventory and tracking database information.
- Follows procedures and work practices related to kit management.
- Support lab staff by delivering patient specimens from the clinics to the lab.
- Transport packaged specimens from the lab to the loading dock.
- Courier kits, shippers, supplies and specimens to and from HCI main site, and satellite sites. And drop off locations for transit to FedEx, UPS and USPS.
- Adheres to laboratory safety practices.
- Manages time and workload efficiently and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Communicates and collaborates effectively with all groups within the CTO and Central Labs.
- Able to work independently and demonstrates adequate problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- Entry-level position where on the job training is provided.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions and to keep accurate records is required.
- Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
- General knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment and terminology as well as the ability to operate and care for laboratory equipment along with the knowledge of appropriate specimen handling techniques preferred or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
- A valid Utah's Driver's License and the ability to single-handedly lift and transport items as heavy as 75lbs is required.
- This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccination requirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the first day of work.
