Lab Aide

Job Summary

The Rutter Lab ( http://rutter.biochem.utah.edu/ ) in the Department of Biochemistry seeks a Lab Aide to perform non-technical laboratory procedures under the general supervision of the Lab Manager and other senior laboratory personnel. The successful candidate may also assist with basic research experiments including molecular biology and biochemistry. This is an entry level position ideal for students interested in laboratory science and research.

Prepares solutions and media for laboratory Keeps lab clean and organized Assists with maintaining lab inventories May assist researchers with experiments

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: The ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions; The ability to keep accurate records; Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. A general knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment and terminology; The ability to operate and care for laboratory equipment; A knowledge of appropriate specimen handling techniques preferred. Preferences: Biology or Life Sciences undergraduate major students are preferred; however, all majors are considered.
