About the role
The Communications Associate will assist the LA Kings’ Hockey Communications Staff with game-day duties, including press setup, credentialing, postgame notes, and other media servicing tasks. This role involves interactions with players, executives, visiting team personnel, league officials, and local/national media, requiring professionalism at all times.
The ideal candidate will have availability for two out of every three home games, with 15-20 hours of game-day work per week, depending on the team’s schedule. Additional in-office hours and projects may be assigned.
Responsibilities
- Assist with game-day duties, including setting up the Bob Miller Press Box and Chick Hearn Press Room, printing materials, distributing seating charts, and supporting interviews.
- Compile in-game and postgame notes using resources like NHL.com/stats, EliteProspects.com, StatHead.com, and StatMuse.com, mastering stat-based hockey information and game notes.
- Manage the single game-day credential window at Crypto.com Arena’s Box Office, ensuring credentials are distributed to media, scouts, guests, and league personnel 2.5 hours before puck drop.
- Assist in setting up post-game interviews and gather audio from home and visiting dressing rooms for distribution to media and posting on LAKings.com/media.
- Perform other duties as assigned, with potential for in-office projects.
Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and work effectively under deadlines.
- High degree of organizational skills.
- Strong hockey knowledge and interest in other team sports (a plus).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 0-1 years of related professional work or internship experience.
Pay
$18.47 - $19.00 per hour.
