Kubernetes / OpenShift Migration Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled professional to lead and execute the migration of containerized workloads from ClearDATA to Horizon Landing Zone (LZ). In this role, you will deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and support applications running on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) while working closely with application, infrastructure, delivery teams, and technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute migration of containerized workloads from ClearDATA to Horizon Landing Zone (LZ)
• Deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and support applications running on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP)
• Work closely with application teams, infrastructure teams, delivery teams, and technical stakeholders
• Plan and execute containerized application migrations across environments
• Analyze existing containerized applications and recommend appropriate migration strategies
• Perform OpenShift cluster administration and operational support activities
• Manage application deployments using Kubernetes/OpenShift objects, including Deployments, StatefulSets, Services, Routes, ConfigMaps, Secrets, and Persistent Volumes (PVs)
• Troubleshoot platform, application, networking, and container-related issues during migration activities
• Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and operational best practices
• Document migration activities, technical procedures, and operational handover requirements
• Independently drive assigned technical tasks with minimal supervision
• Provide regular status updates to project leadership
• Support successful transition of migrated applications into operational environments

Required Experience

• 5+ years of overall IT experience
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in Kubernetes/OpenShift Administration and Operations
• Strong practical experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP)
• Expertise in container technologies, including Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes
• Experience migrating containerized applications across environments or cloud platforms
• Strong understanding of OpenShift architecture, OpenShift cluster operations, workload management, and container troubleshooting
• Experience with container networking and ingress, OpenShift Routes, storage classes, and Persistent Volumes
• Knowledge of container and OpenShift security policies
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Strong Linux administration skills
• Ability to independently coordinate with multiple technical teams and stakeholders
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong technical documentation skills

Migration & Operations

• Assess existing containerized workloads and dependencies before migration
• Develop migration approaches for applications moving from ClearDATA to Horizon LZ
• Coordinate application readiness and migration activities with technical teams
• Validate application functionality after migration
• Troubleshoot deployment, connectivity, storage, and configuration issues
• Support OpenShift environments throughout migration and post-migration activities
• Maintain operational readiness and ensure successful handover to support teams
