About the role

The Education Department at Keene State College is seeking qualified applicants for an adjunct faculty position in Elementary Education for the 2026-27 academic year. This is a part-time benefited position.

Responsibilities

  • Teach EDUC 321 Elementary Methods: Literacy and Social Studies - Integration of theoretical and practical approaches to literacy and social studies instruction in grades K-6.
  • Apply curriculum development (lesson planning and cross-curricular integration), structured literacy instruction and assessment, children's literature, pedagogical practices and arts integration through extended clinical experiences.

Requirements

  • Earned master’s degree in education or related field by August 1, 2026.
  • Minimum of five years full-time teaching experience in public schools at the elementary level (K-6).
  • Availability to teach in-person, during the day (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8am-12pm).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in literacy content and pedagogy.
  • Experience teaching in an inclusive environment with diverse student populations (examples: SES, students with IEPs and 504 plans, ELL, cultural, and racial/ethnic).
  • College teaching experience.
  • Supervision experience.

Qualifications

  • At least five years of full-time teaching experience in public schools at the elementary level (K-6).

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of literacy and social studies instruction.
  • Ability to integrate theoretical and practical approaches effectively.
  • Experience with curriculum development and lesson planning.
  • Structured literacy instruction and assessment skills.
  • Knowledge of children's literature and pedagogical practices.
  • Experience with arts integration and extended clinical experiences.
  • Experience teaching in an inclusive environment with diverse student populations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Benefits
