About the Role

An Advanced Practice Provider (APP) specializing in Women’s Health services synthesizes and utilizes evidence-based practice, research, and current clinical knowledge. The APP demonstrates advanced medical and nursing expertise, clinical competence, sound judgment, professionalism in communication, and responsibility for ongoing professional development. The role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team and partnership with supervising or collaborating physicians.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct history taking, clinical assessments, physical examinations, order entry, clinical documentation, interpretation of diagnostic studies, clinical diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care for the patient population.
  • Perform Quality Assurance chart reviews (25 charts for new graduates, 10 charts for established providers) and maintain records at the practice location.
  • Evaluate signs and symptoms, including age-appropriate changes, and prioritize data collection using collateral sources as needed.
  • Develop and reformulate differential diagnoses, identify comorbidities, and use diagnostic strategies to monitor and sustain physiological function while ensuring patient safety.
  • Participate in daily team transition huddles to facilitate coordinated patient care.
  • Utilize evidence-based practice to prescribe pharmacologic (including medication reconciliation) and non-pharmacologic treatments, implement treatment and referral orders, and interpret diagnostic testing.
  • Monitor and ensure the quality of healthcare practice through consultation, collaboration, continuing education, certification, and evaluation.
  • Adapt teaching and learning approaches based on physiological and psychological changes, age, developmental stage, cognitive status, and health literacy.
  • Work collaboratively to meet quality core metrics and documentation standards.
  • Engage in professional development, interdisciplinary peer review, and advocacy for patient populations and the profession.
  • Address the development and implementation of system policies affecting services.
  • May have on-call duties and/or weekend responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education:
    • APRN: Master’s degree with an Advanced Practice Nursing focus and National Board Certification.
    • PA: Master’s degree with appropriate National Certification.
  • Certifications:
    • APRN: National Board Certification as a CNP, CNS, CNM, or CRNA (must match scope of practice).
    • PA: National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Licenses:
    • Current Ohio Board of Nursing license for APRN.
    • Current Ohio License 50RX – License to practice as a physician assistant with prescriptive authority.
    • Maintain collaborative/supervision agreement as required through the Ohio Medical Board/Ohio Board of Nursing, including yearly review/Quality Assurance and evaluations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in an OBGYN outpatient setting.
