About the role
KMA/CMA-Windsor Gardens Memory Care is seeking experienced full-time and part-time night shift caregivers. The position involves monitoring residents' safety and well-being, administering medications, assisting with daily activities, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the safety and well-being of the residents.
- Report and document resident concerns or changes of condition to the appropriate medical provider, resident's family, and the Clinical Director. Document in EMAR as appropriate.
- Complete routine assessments and document in EMAR.
- Administer Medications to residents according to Physician orders and following facility policies. Correctly document administration in the EMAR.
- Check in new medications and ensure correctly documented in the EMAR for correct administration by other staff.
- Assist other resident assistants with activities of daily living including dressing, bathing, toileting, hygiene routines, meal preparation, and mobility when necessary.
- Assist with prepping meals for all residents, setting tables, bussing tables, and mealtime assistance.
- Encourage residents to socialize with others and participate in activities as appropriate.
- Assist with program activities, encouraging residents by assisting with projects or following instructions provided by the Activities Director or supervisor.
- Report changes or concerns in resident condition or status to the Nurse or Clinical Director.
- Document change in condition in Service Minder or Notes in EMAR.
- Assess and report vital signs as assigned.
- Report changes in functional status or obvious injuries to Nurse or Clinical Director.
- Maintain professionalism with other staff, administration, and residents in all interactions.
- Maintain good communication with co-workers, administration, families, and residents.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for staff, residents, and families.
- Provide personal support to the residents when dealing with the stressors of dementia. Use a calm voice to reassure and redirect as necessary.
- Document daily activities, intake, output, and assistance given in Service Minder.
- Follow Policy and Procedures for admissions, change of conditions, and other unit functions.
- Respond to resident emergencies; provide first aid; arrange for further medical evaluation and transport if necessary.
Qualifications
- Experience in memory care or similar field preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights.
- Must have a strong understanding of memory care principles and practices.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, and other staff members.
- Must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving residents.
