About the role

The Kitting & Cutting Specialist prepares and organizes materials and components for the assembly of modular building units. This role involves precise cutting of raw materials and meticulous kitting to support an efficient production line, minimizing downtime and errors.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and cutting lists to determine material requirements and specifications.
  • Measure, mark, and cut various materials (e.g., wood, metal, insulation, piping) to precise dimensions using hand tools, power tools, and machinery (saws, shears, etc.).
  • Ensure all cut materials conform to quality standards and inspect for defects or discrepancies.
  • Gather and organize components, parts, and materials into complete kits based on a Bill of Materials (BOM) or pick lists for production tasks.
  • Package, label, and stage completed kits for delivery to assembly lines or workstations, ensuring items are secure and clearly identified.
  • Coordinate with production and inventory teams to prioritize kitting activities according to the production schedule.
  • Perform regular cycle counts and assist with inventory management to maintain accurate stock levels and prevent shortages.
  • Maintain accurate logs of materials issued and returned using inventory management systems (e.g., MRP/ERP software).
  • Adhere to quality control procedures, verifying each kit is complete and correct before release to production.
  • Operate warehouse equipment safely, including forklifts or hand trucks (certification may be required).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all company safety policies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or construction environment, ideally involving material handling, kitting, or cutting operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents like blueprints and work orders.
  • Proficiency in using measuring devices (rulers, calipers, tape measures) and various hand/power tools.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry into inventory or enterprise systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for accuracy in complex kitting processes.
  • Reliability, teamwork, and ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions precisely.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting daily production targets and deadlines.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical activities requiring use of arms and legs, bending, stretching, and lifting.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Pay

$22.32 - $28.32 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, with some overtime extending the day to 4:30 PM.

Breaks: 10 minutes at 9:00 AM, 30-minute lunch at 11:00 AM, 10 minutes at 1:30 PM.
