About the role
The Kitchen Worker is responsible for maintaining the resort kitchens, ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and efficient operation of kitchen equipment, dining ware, and food preparation areas.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all dining ware, kitchen equipment, kitchen surfaces, and floors are clean and sanitized throughout the outlet.
- Break down china, glass, silver, and Queen Mary's during and after events; sort and clean all dishes, silverware, glasses, utensils, and ashtrays.
- Transport food from Banquet Kitchen, Pastry, and Garde Manger to Banquet rooms; transport dirty dishes from event areas back to cleanup kitchen area.
- Assist with dish-up during setup, service, and teardown, and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Catering or Stewarding Management.
- Empty, wash, and return waste receptacles throughout the outlet.
- Break down and organize cardboard boxes for recycling.
- Operate mechanical vehicles for transporting large bins of product under strict safety guidelines.
- Keep wash area and mop closets clean and organized.
- Assist with any special cleaning projects as assigned.
- Adhere to safe handling, usage, and storage requirements of all chemicals; notify manager when items need replenishing.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings.
- Address major odors and safety issues, such as broken glassware and spills, promptly.
- Take corrective action and notify management of facility, equipment, or safety hazards.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and safe working environment in all food and beverage areas.
- Maintain the proper operation of cleaning equipment and dish machines daily.
- Adhere to Resorts World company guidelines as stated in the team member training manual and handbook.
- Obtain and maintain position-specific licensing.
- Use personal device/cellular phone for job-related operational tasks, duties, and review of company documents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Polished appearance and demeanor.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to fully understand and adhere to company and department rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Food Handler Card (position-required license).
Qualifications
- At least six months of experience in Stewarding or a similar heavy-duty cleaning field.
- Preferred: Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Preferred: Previous experience in a high-volume establishment.
- Preferred: Previous experience working in a large, luxury resort setting.
Physical Demands
- Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality.
- Constant contact with employees and management.
- Able to communicate effectively in English with the management team and team members.
- Stamina to work 40 hours per week, with the possibility of overtime when needed.
- Flexible schedule, able to work different shifts.
- Possible job hazards include slips, trips, falls, burns, cuts, and strains.
- Must be able to reach, lift, stoop, bend, and perform extensive standing and walking (including stairs) throughout shift.
- Ability to use hands for operating office equipment, including computer systems.
- Ability to talk and hear for phone correspondence.
- Prolonged standing and mobility.
- Bending and reaching.
- Transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Eye/hand coordination.
- Ability to push and/or pull file cabinet drawers weighing up to 5 lbs.
- Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Ability to comply with policies, procedures, daily memorandums, chemical labels (SDS), and other instructions.
