Kitchen Utility/Dishwasher - Embassy Suites by Hilton Dulles Airport

At the Embassy Suites by Hilton Dulles Airport hotel in Herndon, VA—less than 3 miles from Washington Dulles International Airport—this all-suite hotel is 25 miles west of Washington, D.C., near popular tourist sites and global businesses. We are hiring a Kitchen Utility/Dishwasher to work either AM or PM shifts in our hotel F&B outlet, Marty's Bar & Grille, located in a stunning six-story atrium and open for breakfast and dinner seven days a week.
Responsibilities
- Dish Room / Washing Duties:
- Maintains the dish machine, ensuring minimum temperature requirements are met.
- Cleans the dishwasher, changes water based on usage, and cleans curtains and traps.
- Air-dries dishes as needed to prevent spots and ensures proper storage (not stored wet).
- Inspects dishes during washing and re-washes as necessary.
- Cleaning:
- Responsible for trash removal, breaking down boxes, scheduled cleaning, and maintaining floors.
- Completes deep cleaning projects, quarterly power-sprays the kitchen, and may clean other areas such as the associate break room.
- Guest Service:
- Anticipates and responds to varying business levels to meet internal and external customer needs.
- Assists team members within and outside the department to ensure guest needs are met.
- Cost Control:
- Ensures proper use of all equipment and adheres to cost controls to reduce expenses and waste.
- Monitors dishwashing and cleaning chemical usage to reduce costs and minimizes breakage during washing and storage.
- Works Safely:
- Maintains a clean and safe work area in compliance with company, brand, and regulatory standards.
- Operates all equipment following safe procedures and adheres to incident protocols.
- Knowledgeable of hotel emergency procedures.
- Self-Management:
- Produces required work volume by planning, organizing, and prioritizing duties.
- Adheres to attendance policies, grooming and appearance standards, and general work rules.
- Attends all required department and hotel meetings.
- Other Duties:
- Assists with plating for banquet events, food preparation, and production tasks (e.g., cutting bulk vegetables).
- Supports other areas as needed.
Requirements
- Some high school coursework required.
- Must be dependable, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and able to work in a fast-paced, repetitious environment.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds consistently throughout the shift.
- Requires continuous walking, standing, carrying, and moving about the dish room.
- Prior dishwashing experience preferred.

Pay
$18 - $18 an hour. The actual base pay offered is determined by qualifications, relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and other professional licenses held.
