Kitchen Suppression Technician

About the role
Silco is seeking a skilled and licensed Kitchen Suppression Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will inspect, maintain, and repair kitchen fire suppression systems in commercial kitchens, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. If you do not currently hold an Ohio Pre-Engineered license or Portable Fire Extinguisher license, Silco provides up to 2 months of training to help you pass the required state certification exams.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and testing of kitchen suppression systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on kitchen suppression systems, including exit and emergency lighting, and portable fire extinguishers.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with kitchen suppression systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, maintenance activities, and repairs.
- Communicate effectively with customers, providing technical assistance and addressing concerns related to kitchen suppression systems.
- Pass the Pre-Engineered and Fire Extinguisher state certification exams if not already certified.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations governing kitchen fire suppression systems.
Requirements
- Technical and mechanical knowledge, including experience using tools (e.g., wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, drills).
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Experience with kitchen suppression systems (e.g., wet chemical, dry chemical, pre-engineered systems) preferred but not required.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Silco is willing to hire and train highly motivated individuals with no prior experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders, use lifts, and work at various heights.
- Able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching throughout the workday.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small components and tools.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Ability to work in confined spaces or outdoor environments.
- Occasional pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
- Must wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Capable of driving company vehicles and transporting equipment or materials.
- Ability to remain alert and focused while performing detailed or repetitive tasks.
Pay
Silco offers an excellent bonus program paid out weekly, as well as annual merit-based raises. Each Kitchen Suppression Technician is provided with a company take-home van and fuel card.
