About the Role
The Shepherd Hotel is a warm, purpose-driven boutique hotel in downtown Clemson, SC, steps from Clemson University. As a Kitchen Supervisor, you’ll lead a diverse culinary team—including ClemsonLIFE students and community members with disabilities—while upholding culinary excellence and contributing to a mission that transforms lives through hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Open or close the kitchen, ensuring smooth shift transitions, adherence to culinary standards, and a guest-ready environment at every service period.
- Implement and monitor White Lodging Way (WLW) processes across all back-of-house operations, upholding high-performance kitchen standards.
- Lead, train, and mentor a diverse culinary team, including associates with intellectual disabilities, fostering inclusion, accountability, and professional growth.
- Ensure consistent execution of cooking procedures and recipes, maintaining food quality and presentation standards.
- Support department financial goals, associate engagement, and guest satisfaction targets.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized kitchen in compliance with food safety standards, HACCP procedures, and South Carolina health regulations.
Requirements
- At least one year of culinary leadership experience as a Kitchen Supervisor, Lead Cook, or senior line cook in a hotel, restaurant, or high-volume kitchen.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development, coaching, and accountability in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in core cooking procedures and techniques, with the ability to teach a diverse kitchen team.
- Experience mentoring associates with intellectual disabilities, demonstrating patience, encouragement, and care for individual growth.

- Self-motivated with a commitment to food quality, kitchen safety, and culinary excellence.
- Physical ability to stand for up to 10 hours per shift and lift up to 35 pounds.
