What you will be doing
- Oversee the preparation of healthy, tasty and nutritious food for the Lifestyle Center guests, trainees, and staff who eat in the Lifestyle Center dining hall.
- Meal planning
- Ordering of ingredients and supplies
- Ensure the quality and safety of food
- Keep the kitchen clean, organized and well stocked
- Train and develop crew members
- Maintain consistent cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen area and dining hall
- Provide proper storage for left-over items
- Direct in the preparation of daily meals for the Lifestyle Center, trainees, and staff (this includes hot meals and salad items)
- Ensure dining hall is clean after meal services
- Ensure timely disposal of trash
- Direct in monitoring inventory for food and supplies needed for all kitchen functions
- Direct in proper storage of all food purchased
- Direct in proper storage of all supplies ordered
- Direct in training work-study personnel as needed
What you need
- Knowledge and experience preparing delicious and balanced plant-based meals
- Knowledge and experience preparing special diets (raw food, gluten free, soy free, etc.)
- Experience as a supervisor/manager
- Knowledge and experience in menu planning/ordering food and non-food items/storage
- Good with time management; good communication; courteous and compassionate; flexible; teachable and able to teach others; gifted in organization

- Potential hot temperatures in kitchen
- Occasional work on some Sundays
