About the role

Patti Finnegan’s Pub and Grille is seeking a full-time kitchen supervisor to join our dynamic team. Located at the Oakland University Golf and Learning Center in Rochester, Michigan, we serve over 800 affiliate members, various departments of Oakland University, and the general public. The ideal candidate will lead the kitchen team, assist with daily and weekly prep, and ensure a clean and safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team in the absence of the Executive Chef
  • Absorb and relay instructions from the Executive Chef
  • Assist with daily and weekly prep and cleaning lists
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves
  • Prepare ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.
  • Prepare simple dishes such as cold and hot sandwiches, salads, burgers, seafood, etc.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly per health department regulations
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by Chef, Sous Chef or other management

Requirements

  • Minimum of one to two years’ experience in kitchen supervision
  • Experience in different styles - from traditional classics to grill sandwiches and homemade soups
  • Hardworking, reliable, organized, creative, and passionate about food and hospitality
  • Ability to lead and motivate the team
  • Team player with good communication skills
  • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
  • Very good physical condition and endurance

Skills

  • Proven experience as a Grill and/or saute cook
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Manual dexterity to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
  • Very good communication skills
  • Very good physical condition and endurance

Benefits

We offer a competitive pay rate of $20.00 - $25.00 per hour, bi-weekly pay frequency, and an employee discount. Our flexible schedule includes days, evenings, weekends, and some public holidays. We provide training for the right candidate.

License/Certification

Required: ServSafe food manager certificate (or willing to take course)

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent (Preferred)

Experience

Cooking: 2 to 5 years (Preferred) Restaurant Experience: 2 to 5 years (Preferred)
