About the role
21c Museum Hotels combines a multi-venue contemporary art museum, boutique hotel, and chef-driven restaurant to create a unique and welcoming environment. The Kitchen Steward position provides the support and backbone necessary to make the kitchen run smoothly and efficiently on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
- Report to work on time and ready for the scheduled shift.
- Break down machines properly to thoroughly clean all parts.
- Change water in machines and clean debris baskets once an hour.
- Keep all chemicals full during service to ensure proper cleaning.
- Inform supervisors if soap products (solid power, solid brilliance, silver fusion) are low.
- Maintain fresh water in the three-compartment sink (wash, rinse, sanitizer) by changing it at least once an hour.
- Ensure sanitizer test strips are present.
- Keep the shelf above the sinks organized and dry.
- Take out trash and recycling at specified times or as needed during service.
- Keep hand sinks stocked with soap and hand towels throughout the workday.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of both dish stations.
- Maintain an organized soil table to provide a proper landing spot for all dirty items.
- Keep all soaking basins clean and fresh.
- Store and organize back-of-house (BOH) space daily.
- Store and organize non-food-and-beverage (F&B) orders.
- Remove boxes from the receiving area and maintain the slop sink in the back of the kitchen.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the glass rack storage area.
- Perform all opening and closing duties as outlined by supervisors.
Requirements
- Able to work flexible hours (nights, weekends).
- Responsible, dependable, and punctual.
- Strong communication skills; must be able to speak, read, and understand English.
- Clean and professional appearance.
- Must show enthusiasm for all things 21c.
- Must pass a background check.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
