Kitchen Steward

Job Summary

Help keep the kitchen clean, safe, and running smoothly by cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and culinary areas. The role requires lifting up to 40 lb., standing for extended periods, and working flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays. Candidates must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize, and store kitchen equipment, glassware, and utensils according to industry standards within specified timelines.
• Maintain knowledge of cleaning compounds and perform assorted cleaning and sanitation tasks throughout all culinary areas.
• Identify and report equipment failures or maintenance needs to the supervisor or chef on duty.
• Work safely in environments such as deep freezers and around steam‑cleaning equipment.
• Operate equipment that uses water, steam, and heat to maintain food‑contact surfaces.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Physical capability to repeatedly lift, bend, reach, stoop, climb, and carry items for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Capacity to continuously lift and move items up to 40 lb.
• Endurance for heat and moist conditions, with reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stand for long periods at a fast pace to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, holidays, and special events; shifts may vary between day and evening.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
