Kitchen Helper

About the role

This job involves performance of moderately heavy labor in hand-washing pots, pans, dishes and utensils used in the course of preparing and serving meals.

Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and/or pans using dishwasher or if necessary, by hand.
• Clean steam kettles.
• Clean garbage cans with water or steam.
• May assist with prep activities; e.g. cleaning and preparing raw ingredients for cooking.
• Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition.
• Place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas.
• Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas.
• Follow customer service guidelines to ensure customer satisfaction, demonstrated by a positive attitude and smile.
• Maintains professional appearance according to uniform procedures and standards.
• Demonstrates complete understanding of department policies and procedures and supports the department’s strategic plan.
• Exhibits outstanding attendance and punctuality and takes corrective action to prevent any recurring absences.
• Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others while avoiding conflict.
• Displays a positive and enthusiastic approach to all assignments by following the employee code of conduct.
• Directs lower grade and student employees as assigned.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Must be able to lift in excess of 60 pounds.
