Position Objective
The Cook is responsible for assisting the Kitchen Supervisors in preparing high quality and nutritious meals in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.
General Qualifications
- Ministerial Support position
- High School Grad or equivalent
- Minimum one year of food service experience
Key Job Accountabilities
- Aid Supervisors, teammates and Lead Cooks in preparing meals by specified mealtime deadlines
- Follow direction and recipe books to ensure consistent flavor and quality
- Prepare amounts indicated on production sheets to prevent waste and ensure MH food flavor consistency
- Follow all safe food handling practices
- Fill out shift cleaning and temperature logs
- Present the food to the guests in an eye-appealing manner
- Be updated on BEOS and food menus
- Replenish buffet lines and catering vans, and catering boxes as needed
- Add additional duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications
- Education/Certifications/Licenses: High School Grad or equivalent
- Work Experience: Minimum one year of food service experience
- Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: Ability to communicate in English, Knowledge of basic math for recipe conversion, Ability to use basic kitchen utensils, Ability to create positive work relationships and work in teams, Self-directed with ability to work without constant supervision, Ability to remain calm in a high-energy kitchen setting
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and move around the majority of the workday
- Ability to work in hot and cold environments, both indoors and outdoors
- Ability to use a variety of kitchen tools, equipment and utensils, including sharp objects
- Ability to see, hear and speak
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Possession of or ability to obtain a California food handlers card or be ServSafe certified
- Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements
- Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance
- Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
