Kitchen Aide (NSES)

About the role

Under the supervision of the Assistant Operations Director, the Kitchen Aide will assist in food preparation, serving daily meals for shelter guests. This includes three meals a day as well as food storage, food inventory, and maintaining the kitchen and food service areas clean, healthy, and safe per local and state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with food storage, food preparation, and serving daily meals for shelter clients.
  • Coordinate and supervise kitchen volunteers.
  • Coordinate and work with other kitchen staff in ordering and inventorying food supplies.
  • Operate kitchen equipment as assigned and report any malfunctioning equipment or unsafe conditions in the kitchen.
  • Sort, organize, and put away deliveries and food donations and maintain inventory for delivered and donated foods.
  • Follow all posted instructions to ensure each resident's special needs are met (special diet, food allergies, etc.).
  • Keep the kitchen and dining room cabinets, counter tops, and floors clean and sanitary.
  • Prepare and clean kitchen areas daily for service.
  • Empty the kitchen and dining room trash daily or more often as needed.
  • Keep refrigerators, freezers, ovens, pantries, and storage areas clean, sanitary, and organized, and ensure preventative maintenance is provided for kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain a regular rotation of food items, stock in cabinets, refrigerators, and freezers.
  • Attend and participate in mandatory training, staff meetings, and all other events as required.
  • Check and record daily temperature logs.
  • Maintain an attitude of respect for residents of the shelter.
  • Monitor the conduct and behavior of residents, reporting any unusual and critical incidents to the Case Aide Lead, Operations Director, and Program Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Minimum 6 to 12 months of related experience. Will consider a combination of qualifications equal to educational and work experience.
  • Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Knowledge and experience in administering CPR and minor first aid.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries.

Schedule

Tuesday - Friday from 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Pay

$19.00 per hour
