Kindergarten Teacher

About the role
The Kindergarten teacher will join Durham Academy’s Preschool, which serves approximately 100 students in Pre-K and Kindergarten. Each classroom has 18 students, supported by a lead teacher and a teaching assistant. This position reports to the Preschool Director.
Responsibilities
- Set learning goals and plan developmentally appropriate, engaging lessons
- Prepare instructional materials
- Lead whole- and small-group instruction; provide intervention as needed
- Assess student performance and growth
- Maintain communication with families
- Carry out required supervisory duties
- Perform other duties as requested by the division director
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in education)
- At least three years of teaching experience in an early-childhood classroom
- Experience working with children in an educational environment
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth, collaboration, and collegiality
- Passion for meeting the social and academic needs of Preschool students
