About the role
Provide leadership to effectively plan, coordinate and implement programs of instruction that ensure students opportunities to reach their highest social, emotional and academic potential.
Responsibilities
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the location and at the time designated.
- Select and present materials required in the teaching assignment within the framework of the content limitations of state and system curriculum guides.
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
- Select and use classroom technology to facilitate learning.
- Prepare for classes assigned and show evidence of preparation upon request of principal or designee.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain satisfactory attendance defined by system or local school handbook.
- Comply with conditions stated in contract of employment.
- Comply with the federal, state and local board of education requirements for the development of educationally appropriate instruction.
- Aid the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and work cooperatively with all staff members in attaining school goals and objectives.
- Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Attend staff, department, team, or grade level meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Participate as required in the appropriate state annual evaluation process.
- Perform such additional responsibilities as may be assigned by the building administrators.
Requirements
- Minimum of bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and state required certification.
- Ability to organize, coordinate, plan, and direct the implementation of a comprehensive classroom instructional program.
- Proficiency required in oral and written communication, interpersonal relations, and competency in counseling and evaluating student needs.
- Successful teacher training and/or teaching experiences at the level to which assigned.
