One-year contract position requiring an Early Childhood, Elementary 1-8, or Elementary K-6 teaching certification.
About the Role
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, you will facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, addressing individual educational needs, and creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment. You will also provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and administer school elementary curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives.
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction and student learning.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize available instructional time.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs; provide individual and small-group instruction as needed.
- Instruct students in responsible citizenship and other subjects specified by applicable laws and district regulations.
- Acquire professional knowledge and stay current with developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting of student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and laws.
- Encourage parental involvement in students’ education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensure student conduct aligns with school standards and district policies; establish and maintain behavior standards to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
- Coordinate with other elementary professional staff, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum; participate in faculty meetings and committees.
- Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, supplies, and equipment; maintain inventory records.
- Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day, including those involving school transportation.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
Requirements
- Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
- Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
