About the Role

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, you will facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, addressing individual educational needs, and creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment. You will also provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, translating them into learning experiences to best utilize available time for instruction.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including those with special needs; provide individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Instruct students in responsible citizenship and other subjects specified by applicable laws and school system regulations.
  • Acquire professional knowledge and stay current with developments in the educational field through seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or research.
  • Maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting of student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and laws.
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensure student conduct aligns with school standards and district policies, maintaining a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Coordinate with other elementary professional staff, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, supplies, and equipment, maintaining inventory records.
  • Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day, including those involving school transportation.
  • Administer standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.

Requirements

  • Certification in Early Childhood, Elementary 1-8, or Elementary K-6.
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
