Primary Responsibilities
- Serves the school in an instructional capacity.
- Provides grade appropriate instructional program including Lesson planning, Classroom preparation, and Assessment of each student’s performance and development.
- Supervises students.
- Respects and honors the needs of the individual children.
- Detects and reports to preschool director any student concerns.
- Helps create and follow plans to support students.
- Assumes an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staff.
- Participates in faculty meetings, school committees, and in-services.
- Attends other school functions and activities as necessary.
- Uses computers, overhead projectors, document cameras, iPad, and other electronic equipment.
Administrative / Other Responsibilities
- Communicate regularly with parents in person and must be able to write professional emails.
- Complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Demonstrate a respectful demeanor.
- Observe utmost confidentiality.
Requirements
- Religious Qualifications: Active, practicing Roman Catholic (preferred).
- Basic Preschool Catechetical Certification (preferred).
- Professional Qualifications: Proof of completion of 18 or more Early Childhood Education (ECE) Units, Bachelors or Associates degree preferred, Organized and have basic computer skills (Google for Education), Clear criminal background check (a clear Livescan for Community Care Licensing is a condition of employment).
- Experience teaching in a preschool classroom.
- Positive professional references and recommendations.
Physical Requirements
- Spend the majority of the day standing in the classroom.
- Frequently hold objects they are working with or demonstrating.
- Sit on an occasional basis when developing lesson plans, grading, etc.
- Walk through the classroom and be able to maneuver in tight spaces between desks.
- Walk on both even and uneven surfaces.
- Deal with students while kneeling or squatting, stooping, or bending.
- Reach at, below, or above shoulder height with the dominant upper extremity; may require trunk or neck rotation to look back at the class.
- Absolutely assist in moving children's desks and chairs to change the layout of the classroom to influence the learning situation.
- Occasionally lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds from the office to classrooms.
- May be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend trainings or workshops.
Schedule
Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Schedule is to be determined by Preschool Director.
Physical Demands
To successfully meet the needs of the students in his/her care, the teacher must:
