Kindergarten Paraeducator at Central Elementary School

Position Information

The Kindergarten Paraeducator provides direct support to students in Kindergarten, ensuring they have the necessary assistance to succeed academically, socially, and behaviorally. Working under the supervision of a certified teacher(s), the Paraeducator assists with general daily classroom activities including classroom instruction, behavioral management, and individualized student needs.

• Around 4,800 students in grades preK-8 in 8 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 1 early learning center, and 1 year-round, K-8 school.

Compensation Information

• The position starting salary is $19.10 per hour including fully paid individual health benefits.
• (Those with 3 years of experience as a paraeducator or who hold a Bachelors degree will have a starting salary of $20.10 per hour.)
• This position is part of the Des Plaines Educational Support Personnel Association and salaries are part of the collective bargaining agreement.

Selection Procedure

All applications will be reviewed and qualified applicants will be recommended for further interview consideration. After interviews are completed, the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources will make a recommendation to the Board of Education via the Superintendent.
