What You'll Do

  • Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate lessons aligned with program standards and best practices.
  • Foster children's cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical development through hands-on learning experiences.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports each child's individual growth.
  • Observe, assess, and document student progress while maintaining accurate records.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding children's development and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and school leadership to support student success.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and nurturing classroom.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of classroom teaching experience in an early childhood or elementary setting.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and understandably in spoken English for classroom instruction, early literacy development, and parent communication.
  • One of the following qualifications:
    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education (ECE), or a non-ECE degree with 15 semester hours of ECE-specific coursework;
    • OR 8+ years of experience teaching in a Texas Rising Star (TRS) or nationally accredited early childhood program;
    • OR 2+ years of teaching experience in a TRS or nationally accredited program and one of the following:
      • Child Development Associate (CDA) or another TEA-approved early childhood credential;
      • Certification from the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) or Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE).
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, and colleagues.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Nice to haves include:
    • Texas Teacher Certification;
    • Montessori Certificate or in progress;
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish/Chinese) abilities.

About Us

Discovery Montessori Academy is a trilingual Montessori school located with locations in Plano and Allen, Texas. We serve students from 6 weeks to 12 years old with a Montessori preschool and Kindergarten and an After School program for grades K-5.
