About the role

The Kindergarten Aide supports the academic, social-emotional, and developmental needs of our youngest learners. This full-time position within the Elementary Division reports to the Kindergarten Teacher and Elementary Principal.

Responsibilities

  • Aid the teacher with small-group, individual, and classroom learning activities.
  • Prepare instructional materials, learning centers, classroom supplies, and displays.
  • Support students with early literacy, mathematics, fine-motor, and social-emotional skills.
  • Help students follow directions, complete activities, and develop independence.
  • Assist with arrival, dismissal, transitions, lunch, recess, field trips, and other school activities.
  • Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, lunch areas, and other school settings.
  • Reinforce classroom expectations and use developmentally appropriate redirection strategies.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, and organized learning environment.
  • Communicate student needs, concerns, injuries, or unusual behaviors promptly to the classroom teacher.
  • Maintain confidentiality and refer parent questions regarding student progress or behavior to the classroom teacher.
  • Follow school health, safety, emergency, and student dismissal procedures.
  • Participate in required meetings, training, professional development, and school events.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience working with young children is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, flexible, and able to work collaboratively.
  • They should communicate respectfully with children, families, and colleagues.
  • An understanding of early childhood development or willingness to learn is preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification is preferred or the candidate must be willing to obtain certification.
  • The successful completion of required background and employment screenings is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and supervise students indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to lift or move classroom materials weighing approximately 25 pounds.
  • Ability to respond promptly to students’ needs and safety concerns.

Benefits

Salary range: $37,440.00 - $40,000.00
