KIND Clinical Nurse Coordinator

About the role

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine seeks a KIND (Kids' Interdisciplinary Neurovascular Disease) Clinical Nurse Coordinator. This position assists with the management of the patient care department, coordinates staff development/education, quality improvement activities, schedules staff hours, and performs other duties to facilitate nursing care for patients. The position works directly with Neurology and Neurosurgery providers to help coordinate care for patients.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the management of the department which involves input in performance evaluations, interviewing, hiring, counseling employees and other duties as assigned.
• Assists with the training and QI of the department including onboarding, precepting and staff development for comprehensive epilepsy nurses.
• Works directly with Neurology and Neurosurgery providers and Intermountain Health staff to help provide care in a clinic and triage role.
• Triages emergent needs, manages ongoing orders, coordinates insurance authorization and information and helps manage ongoing patient needs.
• Serves as a resource to both internal and external contacts and hospital staff.
• Maintains inventory of specialized items and ensures items are available.
• Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient care environment.
• Performs professional staff nursing functions to maintain clinical expertise to support departmental operations.
