Kimryn Rathmell, Chief Executive Officer of Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, received the Arthur Kornberg and Paul Berg Lifetime Achievement Award in Biomedical Sciences. She shared her thoughts on the honor:
"I’m so honored to receive the Arthur Kornberg and Paul Berg Lifetime Achievement Award in Biomedical Sciences. Stanford University School of Medicine graduates legions of exceptional scientists, and Drs. Kornberg and Berg are such legends in science – so to be recognized for my contributions is truly humbling. This award is just as much a testament to how they brought out my best as a graduate student at Stanford."
- Drs. Kornberg and Berg showed me what it means to really know my lab, inside and out, and how that makes a difference when an early-career scientist needs help.
- Dr. Berg pushed my thinking and always showed up for me, no matter how busy he was.
- I’ve done my best to live up to their standard and lead my labs by their example ever since.
