About the Role

At KidStrong, we help kids win at life. Our science-based curriculum develops brain, body, and character through engaging, 45-minute classes for children from walking through age 11. Our coaches help kids try new things, overcome challenges, celebrate progress, and believe in themselves. We’re looking for energetic, dependable coaches who love working with children, connect naturally with families, and make every class a great experience. If you bring a strong coaching presence, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn, we want to meet you.

Requirements

  • At least two years of relevant experience working with children in a structured setting (e.g., youth coaching, teaching, physical education, gymnastics, martial arts, youth fitness, or camp programming).
  • At least one year of experience leading group activities for children, including giving instructions, managing transitions, maintaining engagement, and addressing challenging behavior (may overlap with the two years above).
  • Experience communicating directly with parents or caregivers about a child’s progress, participation, or behavior.
  • CPR/AED certification, or willingness to obtain it before leading classes.
  • Comfort working in a physically active environment: demonstrating exercises, moving throughout classes for multiple miles per shift, and repeatedly lifting and moving equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Comfort providing appropriate hands-on guidance to support children’s technique and safety.
  • Evening and/or weekend availability.

Responsibilities

Lead Classes That Make an Impact

  • Teach the KidStrong curriculum provided by the HQ programming team, supporting physical, cognitive, and character development.
  • Maintain a dynamic, fun, motivating, and professional presence throughout class.
  • Demonstrate exercises, guide proper technique, and provide appropriate hands-on support to keep children safe and progressing.
  • Review programming in advance, follow the curriculum’s intended pace, and ensure classes start and finish on time.

Build Relationships with Children and Families

  • Greet each child and their parent or guardian individually before or at the beginning of class.
  • Learn names, recognize effort, celebrate milestones, and help every child feel included.
  • Explain the purpose behind activities and communicate children’s progress confidently and clearly.
  • Help parents of children ages three and younger understand their role and follow the flow of class.
  • Use the KidStrong Coach’s App to record attendance, awards, and other class data, and provide accurate progress information for families.

Take Pride in Your Team and Center

  • Help maintain a clean, welcoming center, including the lobby, bathrooms, equipment, and blue floors.
  • Complete shift cleaning duties: taking out trash, sweeping, mopping, wiping down equipment, and sanitizing mats.
  • Communicate professionally with teammates in person and through Slack, including periodic message checks between scheduled shifts as part of paid work time.
  • Support birthday parties, Parents’ Night Out events, and other center activities as scheduled.
  • Learn to lead KidStrong Camps during school breaks, including winter and summer breaks.

Keep Developing Your Coaching Skills

  • Obtain coach certification through the KidStrong HQ Training and Certification team.
  • Attend monthly staff programming meetings to prepare for the upcoming curriculum.
  • Participate in additional required staff meetings and ongoing paid training.
  • Apply feedback, share ideas, and support your fellow coaches.
