Founded in 2017 and based in Chicago, Meitheal is focused on the development and commercialization of generic injectable medications and, as of 2022, has expanded its focus to include fertility, biologic, and branded products. Meitheal currently markets over 75 U.S. FDA-approved products across numerous therapeutic areas including anti-infectives, oncolytics, intensive care, and fertility. As of April 2026, Meitheal, directly or through its partners, has 32 products in the research and development phase, 9 products planned for launch in 2026, 4 products in clinical trial phases, and 13 products under review by the FDA. Meitheal’s mission is to provide easy access to fairly priced products through robust manufacturing, consistent supply, and rapid response to our customers’ needs.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000 per year plus a target bonus (OTE $162,000 to $202,000). Pay is determined by considering a person's prior experience and competence. The actual base salary offered may depend on qualifications, years of relevant experience, specific skills, education, certifications, and location.

About the role

As a Key Account Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving our U.S. sales strategy and achieving revenue targets for the newest antibiotic within the Commercial Therapeutics division of Meitheal Pharmaceuticals. Reporting to the National Sales Leader, you will establish the initial sales foundation for a new product launch. This role calls for a strategic mindset, strong sales and leadership capabilities, a commitment to fostering a high-performance and customer-focused culture, and a drive to accelerate business growth. While this role will not have direct reports, our goal is to hire someone with the capability and desire for broader leadership responsibilities if/as the business grows.

Responsibilities

  • Establish new sales territories and drive revenue growth through formulary approvals and increased adoption.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve annual and quarterly revenue targets aligned with the company’s objectives and market dynamics.
  • Develop and refine sales processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitor sales performance metrics, analyze data, and generate reports to track progress and pinpoint areas for improvement.
  • Lead the oversight of sales forecasting, performance metrics, and tracking systems to drive results and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key healthcare providers and strategic partners to drive business growth and expansion, and identify strategic relationships valuable to the business (e.g., key opinion leaders, advocacy partners).
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities and areas for growth. Stay abreast of industry developments, best practices, and emerging trends to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Ensure collaboration with internal cross-functional partners such as medical, marketing, and sales operations.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build brand awareness and foster strategic partnerships.
  • Contribute to our results-driven, highly collaborative team culture by demonstrating personal accountability, teamwork, and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Prior experience with antibiotic sales.
  • Prior experience selling to infectious disease is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of antibiotics and their application by healthcare practitioners is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of antibiotic purchasing processes, including strong knowledge of distribution channels.
  • Demonstrated capability for broader leadership responsibilities if/as the business grows.
  • Proactive and results-oriented mindset, with a focus on achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong business acumen and a deep understanding of sales strategies, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data to drive decision-making and sales performance improvements.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans, analyze market trends, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Proficient in forecasting, managing budgets, and utilizing commercial resources.
  • Previous experience with launching products is required.
  • Meeting and complying with reasonable industry-standard credentialing requirements of healthcare providers/customer facilities is required for continued employment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent skills and experience required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in sales, with a demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth.

Schedule

  • Field-based role, requiring remote working.
  • Requires the ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 50% of the time) across the U.S. for customer meetings, internal business gatherings, seminars, and conferences.
