Kenwood Station Elementary- School Nurse (26/27)

Job Responsibilities

• Works cooperatively with and under the direction of the Director of School Health Services to coordinate and support school staff in the delivery of health services.
• Delegates, monitors, and supervises unlicensed school staff in the administration of medications.
• Communicates with parents and staff regarding student absences related to illness or chronic disease management.
• Provides parent and teacher training in health-related issues, as needed.
• Maintains health related records including immunization records, preventative physicals, vision exams, and dental exams.
• Collaborates with the Oldham County Health Department and area health care providers in the provision of comprehensive health care services.
• Communicates health care and safety needs of students to teachers, substitutes, and auxiliary staff.
• Develops and implements plans of care for students with special needs, diabetes, life-threatening allergies, seizures, and other disease processes.
• Supervises hearing, vision, and scoliosis screening programs.

Qualifications

• Licensed by the state of Kentucky, in good standing as a Registered Nurse.
• A minimum of three years of clinical nursing/school nursing experience.
• Holds a current Basic Life Support CPR/AED Certification for the Medical Professional.
• Good oral and written communication and problem-solving skills.
• Works well independently or in a team environment.
• Ability to lift, push, pull 40 pounds and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and reaching above head.
