Kennel Assistant - Border Animal Hospital - TX

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated FULL TIME Veterinary Kennel Assistant to join our esteemed team at Border Animal Hospital in Weslaco, Texas. As a Veterinary Kennel Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent care and support to our animal patients and their owners.

Responsibilities

• Walking and exercising dogs
• Feeding and providing fresh water
• Bathing and basic pet care
• Administering medications as directed
• Cleaning and maintaining kennels and resort areas
• Providing safe, loving care to boarding and daycare pets
• Assisting with customer service and communicating with pet parents
• Monitoring pets for changes in behavior or health
• Ensuring the comfort, cleanliness, and well-being of the animals in our care
• Assisting veterinary staff with various tasks to facilitate the smooth operation of our hospital

Qualifications

• Genuine passion for animals and a strong commitment to their welfare
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, team members, and veterinarians
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and protocols accurately
• Physical capability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes
• Basic computer skills for record keeping and communication purposes
• Previous experience in a veterinary setting or animal care role is a plus

Pay

Salary: $10-$12 an hour, commensurate with experience.
