About the role

NBCUniversal internships provide learning and growth opportunities to help set students up for future careers in media. Interns contribute to our diverse portfolio of businesses in hands-on ways, with opportunities for professional development, leadership exposure, networking, and fun. All internships are paid, and full-time interns receive paid company holidays along with robust networking and development opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Select, assign, write, and organize news stories.
• Write headlines, teases, reporter lead-ins, news scripts, promotional teasers, and topicals.
• Contribute story ideas and participate in daily coverage decisions and editorial meetings.
• Assist in the overall production, content, and elements of each newscast.
• Collaborate with news producers, managers, and photographers to conceptualize, write, edit, and produce Telemundo news specials and packages.
• Communicate with news producers, assignment editors, and managers regarding local story development, field progress, and breaking news.

Requirements

• In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree at an accredited institution (documentation required).
• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
• Must be available to work at least 30 hours per week.
• Must be bilingual in Spanish (written and verbal fluency).
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.
• Must be able to work on-site in Las Vegas, NV.

Desired Qualifications

• Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Previous internship experience or on-campus involvement.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-intensity environment, often under tight deadlines.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Strong interest in and demonstrated knowledge of current affairs.
• Excellent computer skills, especially search skills.

Pay

The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $17.00 per hour.
