K9 Handler

Screen cargo in compliance with TSA rules and regulations. Complete a 4-8 week minimum team training course and certification prior to mobilization to the assigned location.

Pay

• Pay rate: $26–$29 per hour
• Moyock rate: $15 per hour

Responsibilities

• Participate in CCSP-related training to search cargo and identify threats
• Conduct authorized representative duties related to X-Ray, physical search, and trace detection as needed
• Perform Handler duties while commanding a trained working dog
• Maintain training records
• Provide care and maintenance of assigned canine, including permitting the canine to live inside your climate-controlled residence (subject to recurring inspections)
• Maintain all job-related certifications and required security clearances
• Operate company vehicle during on-site training
• Work in varied conditions, including busy training environments, field work, outdoors in inclement weather (heat, cold, humidity), and exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and variable schedules as dictated by customer needs
• Travel as required
• Lift and carry items up to 100 lbs
• Stand for long periods, with intermittent sitting, walking, running, climbing, squatting, stretching, bending, and kneeling
• Constant use of hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required, with a minimum of three years of citizenship prior to application
• One to two years of documented experience handling an explosive detection dog in an operational environment
• Obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN) within four to six weeks of employment
• Obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge within four to six weeks of employment
• Obtain a Security Threat Assessment (STA) for Airport Badge within four to six weeks of employment
• Adequate transportation with operational climate control to transport assigned canine and crate
• Pass applicable Contract Testing and Certifications for the program within four to six weeks of employment and maintain certification requirements
• Valid driver’s license with a clear driving record for the last three years
• Driver’s license must comply with REAL ID standards or possess a valid U.S. passport in addition to a valid driver’s license
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities
• Problem-solving skills with an analytical thought process
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
