K4 Teacher

About the role

The K4 Teacher is responsible for a classroom of children aged 4-5 years old. This position involves collaboration with a partner Teacher to ensure the smooth operation of the classroom. The Teacher works closely with families and colleagues to achieve meaningful progress for each child, aligning with United Community Center's school readiness goals.

Responsibilities

• Uses knowledge of child growth and development to support children and communicate with families.
• Establishes and maintains a safe, healthy learning environment.
• Manages behavior through clear expectations, proactivity, and redirection.
• Involves families in the Early Learning program and supports relationships between children and families.
• Shares relevant information with Family Advocates and participates in case conferences as needed.
• Fosters classroom productivity and maximizes learning time, engaging children with various modalities and materials.
• Supports instructional activities through concept development, analysis, reasoning, and feedback loops.
• Models and supports high-quality language use.
• Complies with health and safety policies, ensuring no child is left alone or unsupervised.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree and current Wisconsin DPI teacher licensure are required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as part of a team, and manage responsibilities.
• Effective multi-tasking and time management skills.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift children, as well as manual dexterity for handling small items.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and extreme climates.
• Standard office equipment proficiency, including personal computer, printer/copy machine, calculator, and fax machine.
• May require operating a motor vehicle for work-related travel.
