About the Role
As Principal, you will be responsible for the operation of East Shore Leadership Academy, a K-8 public charter school in Port Huron, within the framework of existing policies set by Summit Management Consulting, LLC.
Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate the Academy’s goals to K-8 teaching and building staff.
- Serve as an instructional leader for the K-8 school building.
- Provide ongoing professional development for staff, demonstrating a commitment to sound research-based instructional practices.
- Lead the improvement of student achievement using the components of the approved academic model.
- Conduct ongoing instruction for all staff members about the academic model.
- Monitor lesson plans to ensure alignment with school pacing calendars.
- Plan and facilitate professional development to increase staff knowledge of effective instruction.
- Regularly observe teachers, provide specific feedback, and suggest improvements.
- Foster a positive school climate through assessment, planning, and community communication.
- Recruit, supervise, evaluate, and develop instructional and support staff while promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Manage personnel effectively through delegation, planning, and evaluation.
- Foster an environment of cooperation among staff and faculty.
- Collaborate with Summit Management Consulting, LLC on staffing plans, budget management, and responsible stewardship of financial and operational resources.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, authorizer, Board, and Academy policies, including student services, special education, pupil accounting, and school safety.
- Promote accessibility and positive school/community relations by articulating the mission and fostering rapport.
- Provide leadership in professional growth through active participation and dissemination of ideas that foster mutual respect.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position involves direct supervision of teachers and staff in the K-8 building.
