What You Bring
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
- Experience in a Special Education classroom setting
- A valid Texas state certification in Special Education
- Knowledge of core academic subjects and curriculum
- Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adjust and adapt to various situations
- Strong family engagement and communication skills
- Effective facilitation and use of technology
- Clear and consistent behavior management system
- Ability to facilitate Admission, Review and Dismissal meetings
What You’ll Do
As an IDEA Special Education teacher, you will:
- Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Assess students' skills and progress, and adjust teaching plans accordingly
- Teach small groups of students who are academically at risk in reading and/or math
- Collect and analyze student data to make informed decisions
- Communicate students' progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators
- Help students transition from grade to grade and after graduation
- Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments
- Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students' needs
- Participate in regular meetings and functions
- Engage in ongoing learning and development
