K-5 Assistant Teacher
About the role
Location: Great Hearts Veritas (3102 N. 56th Street, Suite 200, Phoenix, AZ 85018). Reports to: Headmaster. FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt, Hourly.
Great Hearts Academies is a growing network of 49 public, open‑enrollment, tuition‑free classical schools serving over 30,000 K‑12 students in Phoenix, Baton Rouge, Dallas/Ft. Worth, and San Antonio. The organization’s highest goal is to help students become good, intellectually and morally.
As a K‑5 Teaching Assistant you support the lead teacher in delivering a rich Core Knowledge curriculum; a bachelor’s degree is not required for this role. As an Apprentice Teacher you act as a second teacher in the classroom, sharing planning, grading, and parent communication duties while learning the craft of teaching under a Master Teacher in a classical liberal‑arts environment. Many Apprentice Teachers advance to lead teacher positions after obtaining a bachelor’s degree.
