About the Role

Plans and provides for appropriate classroom learning experiences for students. Creates an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervises students in various school-related settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, and communicates with students, parents, staff, and the community.

Responsibilities

• Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
• Monitors the appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Utilizes assessment strategies (traditional and alternative) aligned with the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) curriculum and standards to assist in the continuous development of the learner.
• Ensures effective communication techniques with students, parents, and stakeholders.
• Engages in continuous professional quality improvement for self, school, and district.
• Uses techniques and strategies to promote critical and creative thinking capabilities of students.
• Implements instructional strategies and materials reflecting students' culture, learning styles, special needs, and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Establishes a classroom management system that maintains appropriate regulation and creates a positive learning environment.
• Plans, aligns, implements, and evaluates effective instruction and assessment in various learning environments.
• Collaborates with peers, parents, community, and stakeholders to improve classroom educational experiences.
• Integrates appropriate technology into teaching and learning processes.
• Ensures adherence to good safety procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education with appropriate subject area.
• Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in a teaching content area.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a specific subject area.

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum, policies, and effective classroom instructional practices.
• Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Apps.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Strategic problem-solving skills, including the use of multiple data points.
• Ability to prepare course objectives and outlines following curriculum guidelines.
• Ability to provide instruction reflecting multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
• Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum.
• Ability to monitor student safety and well-being, especially during inclusive activities.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students.
• Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
• Ability to maintain order and discipline in various school environments.
• Ability to maintain files and records.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, staff, students, parents, and the community.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Working Conditions

Physical Environment: Requires the use of office equipment and classroom tools (computers, scanners, fax machines, copiers). Involves lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects up to 10 pounds. Physical requirements are consistent with sedentary work, with significant standing and walking.

Work Environment: Works in an office and public-school environment, with direct contact with employees, students, and the public.
