About the Role

Crane Operators will operate one or more cranes to move heavy equipment from one location to another, often involving changes in altitude. This position requires the ability to operate small and large hydraulic cranes.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various construction cranes to move equipment and materials.
  • Plan operational lifts and inspect equipment.
  • Ensure all safety aspects of operating the equipment are followed.
  • Follow signal directions from a signaler during equipment operations.
  • Assess the area of operations for safety issues and required processes.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as equipment inspection paperwork.
  • Assist in other duties when not operating a crane.
  • Follow all instructed safety regulations and instructions correctly.

Physical Requirements

  • Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
  • Communicate through talking and hearing.
  • Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
  • Pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
  • Work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel-toed work boots.

Requirements

  • Current National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) credentials for the appropriate type of crane.
  • Current Crane Operator physical.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Crane Operator.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet motor vehicle records check.
  • All required tools and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

  • Experience and knowledge of operating various small and large hydraulic cranes and rough terrain (RT) cranes ranging from 15T to 99T.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to inspect equipment.
  • Ability to perform load planning and lift planning.
  • Knowledge of all proper hand signals.
  • Willingness to assist in other duties when not operating a crane.
  • Reliability, accountability, and consistency in performing administrative processes.
  • Ability to work the designated schedule and any overtime as needed with proper notification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current JVIC/Zachry ROF’ed employee.
  • Former experience working with JVIC/Zachry (a Zachry Group Company).
  • Experience in all listed cranes above.
  • Formal/technical education.
  • Both TSS and TLL NCCCO certification.
