On-Site Position: Monday thru Friday
Background Checks: CAI and DOC background checks including a drug screen, TB test, DCS check and fingerprinting
Location: 9310 South State Road 67, Pendleton, IN 46064
Job Responsibilities
- Facilitate the implementation of a life skills curriculum, titled Next Steps.
- Utilize the Transition Coordinator Handbook in an effort to standardize the transition practices.
- Evaluate the five "Transition Consultations" to be completed by every student under the guidance of an assigned teacher.
- Participate on a weekly basis in Administrative Release Committees (ARC) in each facility to confirm and reinforce the student's reentry plans.
- Do Follow Up Phone Calls to released youth at 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months.
- Represent the Indiana Department of Correction- Division of Youth Services at many conferences and meetings.
- Assist in the development of a partnership with Indiana's Department of Workforce Development, HIRE, and Indiana University’s HOPE Mentoring.
- Aid in the development of the individualized Education Learning Plan for each youth upon entry at the facility.
- Work with state, county and private agencies to provide re-entry servicers for youth transitioning back into the community.
- Aid students with obtaining social security cards, state identification, driver’s license, birth certificates, and additional documentation.
- Aid students with transitioning back to public schools.
- Aid students with employment, apprenticeship programs, and military service information.
Required Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.
- Experience with training, coaching or guiding youth.
- Experience collaborating and creating initiatives.
- Experience as a spokesperson at events.
- Experience with building relationships and partnerships to leverage resources and services.
