Juvenile Detention Centers Site Leader

About the role

This position involves implementing in-person programs for incarcerated youth in local Juvenile Detention facilities. The primary responsibilities include connecting with the direct supervisor for daily and/or weekly updates, promoting high standards in all aspects of the programs, and facilitating activities and lessons.

Responsibilities

• Connect with direct supervisor for daily and/or weekly updates
• Promote high standards in all aspects of in-person community-based programs
• Serve as a role model to program participants and staff by actions, appearance, manners, language, and general conduct
• Participate enthusiastically in all program activities, planning, and leading those as assigned
• Facilitate activities/lessons and learning for participants for in-person program
• Adapt curriculum, timeline, and set-up suggestions to deliver program in assigned facilities reliably and in line with the Girl Scouts mission
• Attend training workshops and staff meetings as assigned
• (Including those additional trainings specific to serving our Incarcerated Youth population)

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• College coursework or teaching experience preferred
• Ability to implement and adapt curriculum to audience needs
• Strong organization skills
• Ability to read/interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals
• Ability to speak effectively before groups and in one-on-one situations
• Experience in the development and delivery of programs and activities for youth
• Experience or interest in the Juvenile Justice field
• Competent computer skills

• Training and experience in teaching program to children
• Ability to schedule and work with staff
• Desire and ability to work with Incarcerated Youth
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to transport self to the job site

Pay

Salary range: $18 - $22 per hour

Schedule

Available 5 – 10 hours per week

Qualifications

• Minimum Age: 21 years

Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity. Ability to lift 40-50 pounds. Must be able to pass Fingerprinting and Background Check requirements sufficient for clearance with the Department of Justice.
