HybridFull-time

About the role

Precise Software Solutions Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer / QA Tester to support an online case management system used by a federal government client. This hybrid role combines software development, quality assurance, help desk/ticket support, and content management responsibilities. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can work effectively in an Agile Scrum environment, resolve technical issues quickly, and maintain the excellent working relationship the team has built with the client. Must be a US citizen, Green Card holder, or EAD holder with ability to obtain a public trust clearance. Preference for candidates local to the DC area.

Responsibilities

  • Support full stack development efforts — front-end and back-end — including enhancements, bug fixes, and new features for the case management system.
  • Provide daily technical support and help with desk ticketing (e.g., ServiceNow) for the case management system, resolving incidents reported by external customers and end users to ensure timely resolution and user satisfaction.
  • Conduct end-to-end and regression testing across the web application to validate functionality, performance, and overall system integrity.
  • Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, and help maintain the product backlog in Jira.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation and status reports (e.g., testing results, ticket/incident metrics, release notes) using Jira and Confluence.
  • Maintain a professional, responsive, and trusted relationship with federal client stakeholders through excellent written and oral communication.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI-assisted development and testing tools, large language models (LLMs), and automation to improve delivery speed and quality.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Agile Scrum methodology, with hands-on experience in a Scrum team.
  • Good understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence for tracking work and producing reports.
  • Comfortable managing a help desk / ticketing queue and communicating directly with clients on issue status and resolution.
  • Experience with software testing practices, including end-to-end and regression testing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology & Management, or a related field.
  • Approximately 2 years of software development or IT experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full stack development experience (Java and Python); hands-on experience with Drupal is a plus but not required.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted development tools, LLMs, or automation frameworks.
  • Prior experience supporting a federal government client or public‑sector project.
