Junior Software Engineer (.NET/Angular)
About the role
Pioneering Evolution builds the tools that move billions of dollars through federal budgeting, tasking, and execution processes. For over 15 years we have automated acquisition and finance for government programs, earning awards through a relentless focus on human‑centered design and meticulous attention to detail. Our engineers, called Pioneers, challenge the status quo, embrace unconventional approaches, and blaze trails for others to follow. We are currently developing SyncCore™ — a Mission Operating System that provides a secure, event‑driven digital backbone for identity, integration, canonical data, governance, auditability, and interoperability — and SyncPoint™, a modular application ecosystem built on SyncCore that addresses real‑world needs such as requirements management, budgeting, task planning, resource allocation, execution, and decision support.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of SyncCore (Mission OS) and/or SyncPoint modules.
- Write production code, participate in design discussions, and review code with experienced engineers.
- Gradually take ownership of features as your skills grow.
- Work on either the platform team or a module team, based on fit and interest.
- Collaborate with a lead architect, chief engineer, and senior engineers to learn how they think and solve problems.
Requirements
- Software development fundamentals and a working grasp of object‑oriented programming.
- Experience with C# or any other statically typed language (Java, Kotlin, C++, Go, TypeScript, Swift, etc.).
- Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
- Understanding of web applications, HTTP, and APIs.
- Exposure to JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Familiarity with Git.
- Ability to work a problem systematically when it does not make sense yet, and to articulate confusion.
- Typically 0–3 years of professional experience; equivalent internship, co‑op, academic, military, open‑source, or serious personal‑project work is acceptable.
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship is required (no exceptions).
- Active Secret clearance is welcome; if you do not have one, you must be eligible for an interim Secret (we sponsor the process).
- Hybrid work arrangement with a few days per week at our Arlington headquarters (2550 S. Clark Street).
- Thrive in a fast‑moving, small, dynamic team where you are the least experienced person in a room of talented engineers and find that exciting.
