Junior Software Engineer

About the role

Aeroflow Health is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join our dynamic Product Engineering organization. You will work alongside experienced engineers, technical leads, product owners, QA specialists, and business stakeholders to help build and support applications that improve the experience of more than one million patients nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining backend APIs using Node.js and TypeScript
• Support the development and enhancement of Next.js applications and middleware services
• Partner with senior engineers to troubleshoot issues, improve existing applications, and deliver new functionality
• Learn modern cloud development practices while working with AWS services such as SQS
• Participate in code reviews and use feedback as an opportunity to grow your engineering skills
• Contribute to AI-enabled initiatives focused on document processing and workflow automation
• Collaborate with engineers, product owners, QA specialists, and business stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute during two-week sprint cycles
• Follow established engineering standards and best practices for writing clean, maintainable TypeScript code

Requirements

• College degree, diploma, or equivalent educational experience in Computer Science or a related field
• Approximately one year of software development experience through internships, co-ops, academic projects, or professional experience
• Working knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript fundamentals
• Basic understanding of REST APIs and HTTP concepts
• Basic familiarity with Node.js and modern JavaScript development
• Exposure to React or Next.js through coursework, internships, or personal projects
• Basic familiarity with Git or other version control systems
• Strong desire to learn modern engineering practices and grow as a software engineer

Skills

• Knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript fundamentals
• Understanding of REST APIs and HTTP concepts
• Familiarity with Node.js and modern JavaScript development
• Experience with React or Next.js
• Exposure to AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, S3, or DynamoDB
• Experience with AI or NLP tools
• Familiarity with Express.js
• Experience with Agile software development practices
