About the role

The Junior Developer will join the Observability team at Canonical, contributing to the development of a cloud-native monitoring stack. This stack will integrate best-in-class open-source monitoring tools, providing deep insights and a polished user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain cloud-native monitoring tools using Python and/or Go
  • Collaborate with a globally distributed team to write, test, and document high-quality code
  • Debug issues and contribute to a vibrant open-source community
  • Attend conferences to represent Canonical and the Charmed Observability Stack
  • Work remotely and travel 2-4 weeks per year for internal and external events

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field
  • Proven track record as a skilled Python developer, with experience in open source
  • Working knowledge of Go
  • Interest and experience with Ubuntu Linux, container images, Debian packaging, snap, and distributed systems

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively
