About the role
The Junior Developer will join the Observability team at Canonical, contributing to the development of a cloud-native monitoring stack. This stack will integrate best-in-class open-source monitoring tools, providing deep insights and a polished user experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain cloud-native monitoring tools using Python and/or Go
- Collaborate with a globally distributed team to write, test, and document high-quality code
- Debug issues and contribute to a vibrant open-source community
- Attend conferences to represent Canonical and the Charmed Observability Stack
- Work remotely and travel 2-4 weeks per year for internal and external events
Requirements
- A Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field
- Proven track record as a skilled Python developer, with experience in open source
- Working knowledge of Go
- Interest and experience with Ubuntu Linux, container images, Debian packaging, snap, and distributed systems
