Job Summary
Volvit is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Software Developer (C++) to support the development and maintenance of mission-critical analysis applications for the U.S. Navy. This role offers hands-on experience with modern software development practices and contributes to the modernization and sustainment of critical defense systems.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Agile Scrum teams to develop, test, and maintain desktop software applications
- Develop software solutions using C++ under the guidance of senior developers and technical leads
- Participate in software design, implementation, debugging, and testing activities
- Apply object-oriented programming principles and software engineering best practices
- Aid in troubleshooting software defects and performance issues
- Support the enhancement and modernization of existing desktop applications
- Develop and maintain technical documentation as required
- Work closely with software engineers, systems engineers, testers, and government stakeholders
- Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies
- Support software integration, deployment, and sustainment activities
Qualifications
- 0–4 years of software development experience, including professional, internship, academic, military, or personal project experience
- Proficiency in C++ with a focus on desktop application development
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming principles
- Familiarity with multi-threading, concurrency, or asynchronous programming concepts
- Familiarity with Git source control, including committing, branching, merging, and pull request workflows
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a team environment
- US Citizenship is required
- Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher (or the ability to obtain one)
- CompTIA Security+ Certification required
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or SAFe
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Experience with desktop application development
- Familiarity with CMake for configuring, building, and managing C++ projects
- Familiarity with modern C++ standards (C++11/14/17/20)
- Familiarity with Python scripting and automation
- GIS (Geographic Information Systems) experience is a plus
- Experience supporting government, defense, or regulated environments
- Active Top Secret Clearance is a plus
